The Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra (SYSO) Marrowstone Music Festival, founded in 1943, is the premier summer orchestra training program of the Pacific Northwest. The program features internationally acclaimed faculty and guest artists from the world’s most distinguished orchestras, chamber ensembles, opera companies, conservatories and schools of music. 14-year old Lopez Island pianist Gavin Goodrich was selected through competitive auditions from a field of 13 to 25-year old musicians from over 30 states and several countries to participate in the 2014 summer training program. The musical gifts of the internationally acclaimed faculty are vividly reflected in their devotion to the training of the next generation of young artists.
